Play Therapy

I offer one-to-one play therapy sessions of 50 minutes duration for children aged 5-11. Based upon the initial assessment I make I will have an indication as to how many sessions the child may need. If play therapy is not suitable for the child I can offer signposting (e.g. finding alternative support from a specialised organisation) or a suggested referral point of call.

Group Play Therapy

Group play therapy made up of four children can be provided. At least 6 sessions are needed, and depending on the group topic 8 sessions may be required. Assessments are carried out for each child to check their suitability for group work. Weekly sessions can be held in school during school time or as an after school club.

Parent-Child Attachment Play

Working with the parent(s)/carer(s) using play tools to help build better communication and bonds between parent and child. A minimum of 12 sessions is recommended; the play therapist coaches the parent. The parent and play therapist meet for several weeks, going at the parent’s pace, learning three skills and practicing them before the parent starts special play time, ideally in their home, with their child. The play therapist will be available for support after each play date to help the parent until the parent is confidant enough to carry on the play time with their child without support.
